History
Salesians of Don Bosco are a worldwide Catholic religious order spread out in 133 countries. They number about 14,500 men who work among vulnerable youth across the globe.

Salesians, from Italy and India, arrived in Eastern Africa (Kenya, the Sudan, and Tanzania) in 1980. Their mission has been expanding exponentially. Throughout these years, they have been organised and re-organised in different juridical circumscriptions comprising different East African countries. Currently, the Salesians of Don Bosco – Eastern Africa (AFE) is made up of Kenya, the Sudan, and South Sudan, with their headquarters in Nairobi.

To facilitate efficient management and decision making processes, the Sudan and South Sudan form a Delegation Unit of Salesian Eastern Africa, with its headquarters in Juba. Currently, on account of the war, the three Don Bosco institutions in the Sudan are temporarily suspended, while the Salesians minister in five locations in South Sudan. In Kenya itself, the Salesians minister in 13 locations.
